Cos'è il Basic design?

"Bella domanda! Il basic design è il cuore del cuore della nostra disciplina di designer, cioè è proprio il centro centrale della disciplina. Se vi chiedono, che cosa fa un designer? La cosa che potete rispondere sicuramente è: attribuisce una forma, diciamo una configurazione più prudentemente, agli oggetti del mondo che ci circonda, ma anche ai comunicati, agli eventi, dei servizi. La cosa per la quale ci pagano, è proprio la qualità che noi attribuiamo a questa forma. Un ingegnere pensa all'automobile, come uno strumento per muoversi; un designer ci mette dentro altro, e soprattutto deve mettere un'attenzione particolare rispetto alla qualità che assumono le forme degli oggetti appunto. Il basic design insegna proprio a disegnare bene, a disegnare qualitativamente bene."

Il basic design si occupa di dare configurazione agli oggetti. Per spiegare dove ha inizio e luogo quest’esperienza, si riprende la storia dalle origini, in modo da poter delineare i caratteri principali di questa disciplina, attraverso gli insegnamenti e le metodologie svolte dai designer.
La professione di un designer, in generale, si serve di saperi condivisibili, cioè comuni a tutti, e sono questi che garantiscono e ci permettono di progettare.
L’elaborato presenta inizialmente la storia delle due grandi scuole di progettazione, la Bauhaus e la Scuola di Ulm; ripercorrendo gli ideali e le metodologie d’insegnamento, che hanno poi fatto le premesse per essere studiate e ricordate ancora oggi. Successivamente viene analizzato nello specifico il corso del basic design, allora corso propedeutico.
I capitoli finali, concludono l’elaborato con un’approfondimento delle teorie del colore, con la presentazione del maestro Josef Albers, maestro del colore, famoso anche per il suo “Interazione del colore” dove ci mostra le diverse facce del colore. A conclusione della tesi vengono presentate le esercitazioni di basic design, che sono parte integrante della disciplina stessa.

The basic design is about configuring objects. To explain where this experience begins and place, the story begins from its origins, so that it can be delineated the main characters of this discipline, through the teachings and methodologies developed by the designers. The profession of a designer in general uses shared knowledge, that is common to all, and these are the ones that guarantee and allow us to design. The paper first presents the history of the two major design schools, the Bauhaus and the Ulm School; retracing the ideals and teaching methodologies, which then made the premise for being studied and remembered today. Subsequently, the course of basic design, then pre-course course, is analyzed. The final chapters conclude the elaboration with a closer look at the theories of color, with the presentation of master Josef Albers, master of color, also famous for his "Color Interaction" where he shows us the different faces of color. At the end of the thesis, basic design exercises are presented, which are an integral part of the discipline itself.
Le esercitazioni

Gestaltung, ma forse oggi si potrebbe approssimare con configurazione e configurare. In tedesco dunque “gestalten” e “Gestaltung “contrapposte a “darstellen” e “Darstellung”, e in italiano un “configurare” ben distinto da “raffigurare”. Un “plasmare, disporre, comporre, montare e modulare” nettamente distinto da un “rappresentare e disegnare”.
Il corso, che ha un carattere propedeutico al successivo insegnamento di progettazione, è caratterizzato da una metodologia didattica fondata sulla ricerca e sulla sperimentazione.
L’attività è articolata in lezioni ed esercitazioni: le prime intendono avvicinare lo studente alle problematiche della progettazione, le seconde sviluppare la sua creatività intesa sia come capacità a definire processi logici, sia come attitudine a gestire sistemi complessi di relazioni..

Gestaltung, but perhaps today we could approximate with configuration and configure. Oggi si riscontra una forte richiesta di propedeutica, da parte degli stessi studenti che, si aspettano che chi di dovere insegni cosa bisogna sapere prima e cosa dopo.
Il Basic Design si propone di insegnare ciò che è il cuore della disciplina del design, di attribuire una forma agli oggetti, agli artefatti comunicativi.
Il Basic Design è erede del Vorkurs, del Grundkurs e della Grundlehre del Bauhaus.
